Anyone Try The Digimac MediaBridge?

imagineer_bob asks: "Has anyone else tried the Digimarc MediaBridge? I just set it up here, and it worked OK with a little Logitech USB Digital camera on my Win2K box. It takes me about 10 seconds or so to position the picture so I can get a read, and on a few I haven't had much luck. It's hard to imagine where they store all their information, especially on pages that are mostly white, except for a few line graphics and some text. There's a lot more [informational] leeway in a photo." This is interesting tech. Might this be a sign that full image recognition will be available in the near future?

I have the Philips Vesta Pro (pcvc680k) camera...

I installed the digimarc software, held the pic (wired mag) up to the camera as was about to reach around to focus it, point it in the right direction, etc...

and BING! The proggy caught the mark in about half a second, and sent my browser to the appropriate page.

I was impressed by the speed. And it didn't need to see the whole image. 'cept it's annoying to have to have the camera focussed on 5" all the time. (Actually, mine will work even when focussed at infinity, but much slower).

The way things are these day here. "How to defeat watermarking". Why? So you can remove the attribution of someone else's work. Describe to me a legitimate need to strip watermarking. If you need a watermark removed, contact the artist and pay the fee.

Or else it's theft. Simple. Just because you can right-click Save Picture... doesn't give you the right.

Right... so why is the URL (or a portion of it) "...Graphics/Theft"?

If someone sends you a picture that is their property, you have the rights to only do what they say with it... If they put it in a (custom) browser with no way to save, and you take a screenshot... then at least it's licence violation (though yes, I know, you don't sign licences to download websites, I was just expanding on this idea).
