Techno-Charities?

Beryllium Sphere(tm) asks: "Where can a nerd give away money to support nerdly causes like showing bright children that they have a future, putting humanity in space, giving nonprofits a web presence, or providing counseling for engineers who work in psychotic companies? The Crypto Rights Foundation (http://www.cryptorights.org) is one example of what I'm asking for. They provide tech support for human rights organizations that use PGP. What nerd-oriented charities are people willing to recommend?"

my god man, do you really have nothing better to give your money away to - take a look around, there's rampant starvation, lack of medicines, food, disaster relief, etc. everywhere. I'm not anti-technology at all but I believe your money would be better spent saving a life, e.g. giving directly to a humanitarian organization for real world relief rather than online presence When it comes down to it: save a life, or help a nonprofit org have a site - your choice

The Geek Corps are a group of geeks that go into third-world countries and help small businesses get on the internet. They train people, evaluate the businesses' needs, and assist in finding venture capital. Currently, they are in West Africa. They're always looking for volunteers and financial supporters, so you should take a look at them.
