Satellite To Research 'Dark Energy'

Nevyan wrote to us about the proposed plan to launch a satellite for the purposes of studying dark energy, by examining the acceleration of the Universe with the satellite. The satellite will be called SNAP - the Super Nova Acceleration Probe.

    Could someone give some info on the difference between dark energy and normal energy?

    Hopefully I'm not to late... I know a little about it, so I will do my best to sum it up. Recently they made a discovery looking at the red shifts of stars that makes them think that the universe is expanding at an accellerated rate, unlike before the thought all the accelleration happened right after the Big bang. So they think this dark energy is causeing the universe to expand a faster, and faster. then there is a lot of stuff about it justn appearing and dissapearing. But I'll just say it seems to be in deep space, and there seems to be a lot of it.
