Gene Researchers Unravel Streptococcus
cornflux writes: "Seems like every day they're 'cracking' the genetic code for something. Tuesday was the day for the genus Streptococcus, which causes the lovely illness we call strep throat. ABCNews.com has the story." From the article: "The bacteria cause thousands of human illnesses each year, including strep throat,
impetigo, pneumonia, toxic shock syndrome, blood poisoning, scarlet fever,
rheumatic fever and a flesh-eating disease called necrotizing fasciitis."
The other day I found a nice listing of them at www-fp.mcs.anl.gov/~gaasterland/genomes.html
