New Language CURL Merges HTML And Javascript

jluxe writes: "CNN reports that a new language, Curl, was presented at the Software Development Forum in Palo Alto. This language works via a plug-in to browsers, and attempts to merge the gap between HTML, javascript, java, and even C++. It also supports the Macromedia Flash plug-in. Interesting to note that Tim Berners-Lee is listed as a financial backer of this venture, as well as an adviser." Here's the Curl Corporation's official website as well.

    I don't mean to troll, but this really peeves me. Technology like Javascript has inherant secruity flaws. The current split between basic webpage scripting (html), advanced scripting (Javscript, others?) and programs (Java, etc) is sensible because if the security for one of the latter two is compremised, we can simply shut it off. Now if these sunofaguns get their way, imagine what risks we're put at by security holes in our browsers by this intergration.

    Remember the good old days, when people used to make a living by doing work, manufacturing a product and selling it?

    These days, jokers are hoping to make their living (actually, get filthy rich) sitting on their ass and skimming a few cents off of every one of billions of transactions performed by other people. (Sounds kind of like the government.)

    Hopefully it ain't gonna happen.
