The UDRP: Is It Un-Fair.com?

typecast writes "A study of more than 3,000 UDRP decisions by a Canadian law prof. suggests that ICANN's domain-dispute resolution process may be even more unfair than Slashdot types already believe. This article says the study confirms organizations such as WIPO and the National Arbitration Forum decide most cases in favor of trademark holders. But it also says it's clear that individual arbitrators with strong "anti-cybersquatting" records are the ones most likely to be handed UDRP cases. A copy of the study and a minimal database of UDRP-panelist stats can be found at Geist's own UDRPInfo Web site."

I've been meaning to fool with my sig for a while now. I noticed the "bait-and-switch" sig trick a few months ago, but looks like you beat me to actually employing it :-) Anyway, here's something to try:
    • Make a regular-looking karma-whoring link post. An obvious target is to give the "archive.nytimes.com" no-registration link in any story that links to a New York Times article. Put the link in your sig, of course.
    • Wait to be modded up to +5.
    • Once there, change your sig to point the link to goatse.cx.
    • Laugh your ass off, and get a new account; the account you do this with will be bitchslapped in seconds.

Evil, huh? Good thing I'm too lazy to ever actually do it.
