Booting A PIII System In .8 Seconds
gizmo_mathboy writes: "General Software has announced the fastest BIOS boot time on record. The embedded system was clocked at 0.8 seconds from system power-on to transfer of control to LILO. This was on an Intel SOYO motherboard (440BX chipset) running a PIII 400. I think the quote of the article is: 'This Embedded BIOS quick-boot operation allows the device to restart and resume operations well within three seconds -- the maximum amount of downtime allowed per year for a device that must support "seven nines" or 99.99999 percent uptime.'"

Many men enjoy some form of testicular stimulation during sex. One of the most sought after techniques is referred to as teabagging, after the motion of dipping a bag of tea into and out of the water. Drop your head below his scrotum, with your lips pointed upward at the scrotum. Allow him to lower his scrotum into your mouth. Suck on one testicle, then the other, then both if you can stretch around. Use your tongue to lick the testicles and the base of the scrotum. Take care to be gentle around this area, as men are very sensitive. Start slow and gentle, then work your way up in intensity, watching his reactions closely. Try stroking his penis while you're teabagging for some extreme oral fun.
Can you imagine a B...
...never mind.
15th post!
Thanks for posting this. It is nice to see just what butt nuggets CmdrTaco & co. are.
Jesus Christ maybe these republicans are right about the quality of today's public schools
hello there
i'm furry
Apart from all the times I said "you're" instead of "your", There's a sentence in there that makes no sense at all. I originally intended to post this in reply to an ascii art post or two. I decided it was good enough to stand on it's own, so I posted it as a top level comment. I didn't catch all the references to the parent post before posting, so whenever you read a reference to the parent post, I'm talking about ascii art. Due to the response I've gotten from moderators, I'll probably have to repost this a few times, as this is information that the slashdot users deserve to have. Thanks for your attention.

Important Stuff:
WOW! You are soo funny!! Keep up the good work!!
If they're such butt nuggets, then why are you on this site?
If you don't like the hosts, go to someone else's party.
It's more fun to piss in the punch and fuck the host's wife while he's in the bathroom barfing his guts up.
I cum in 0.6 seconds.
If you make your comment over 1000000 characters long, the compression filter won't affect you. Time to start making some major ascii art...
Who is Andrew J. Tosh?
Everyone doing anal stuff should drop their x86 cocks and get a Sun right now!
Seriously
The COCK architecture does not use a DICK with PENIS mode cocks for fucking. It has condom drivers built right into the firmware (at least it's firm when you see an attractive ass). On x86, the COCK contains PENIS mode drivers, This was fine for anal systems like ASS and Dick 3.1. However, modern cocks (Windows, Linux, etc) need condom mode asses. By placing these right in the penis Sun is able to smoke x86 performancewise ALWAYS. I think its time to rape our legacy ASS hardware and start fucking x86 penises with condom mode COCK drivers. Anyone with more anal information, please comment.
YHBT YHL HAND (gayness filter encountered... post aborted)
You seriously need a life.
Great sig man!
Hey, I think I've seen that "bitchslap" thing in use. Once, somebody posted the same message a million times, and somehow they all got a score of -1 immediately.
What an asshole!! Who was that guy?
Slashdot has been so horribly broken for the last 2 weeks I commend you for finding these small design flaws beneath the mountain of large design flaws.
Perhaps you missed, or chose to ignore, the fact that the links you posted to the CVSweb filter are calling files out of the Attic.
The Attic is for deleted files.
So, bitchslap and modslap aren't being used anymore. Yeah, the spirit of consorship probably lives on in other pieces of /. but you do your cause a disservice by pulling up deleted code and treating it like it's live.
You cannot apply a technological solution to a sociological problem. (Edwards' Law)
*However*, that being said, I can't say that I agree with you, or anyone else who bitches about it, that slashdot is a dictatorial regime that is out to trample everyone's right to free speech. You would think, from the way some people talk, that they have some God-Given-Right(tm) to do with as they please and say anything they want to on /. and anything that gets in *their* way is some fascist jack-booted thugs out to destroy freedom.
Just because this site exists doesn't give you any privileges. Fact is you don't have a right to post anything on slashdot. In fact, you don't even have a right to read it. The owners of this site can do with it as they please. They can lock everyone out from reading or posting to it if they so wish. As it stands, they have opted to open it up as a public discussion forum where a community can post, providing that it follows some rules.
I think this is a good thing. I get a resource which fosters *directed* discourse and provides me with more information/opinion in one site than I could get spending too much time on search engines. And I realize that I am going to get a perspective (which is, BTW, a selling point, not a flaw!), along with biased commenting (ie, I know I am going to find more pro open-source than con, more pro high-tech than pro building-things-with-sticks), along with a certain amount of crap (someone's sig reads something like "having a lameness filter on slashdot is like having a shit filter on your ass"). I know *ALL* of this going into it.
O.P.P.: I think the fault here is yours. YOu have deluded yourself, in that oh so modern way, into thinking that you have a right to everything. [Can we blame the extreme "free, as in beer" faction for fostering this over-inflated view of "rights"?] [Or to put it another way, I think the same mentality was reflected in the Vandals song _Anarchy Burger_:
]You come into slashdot expecting to do as you darn well please, and piss on the cheese, and then get upset when you realize that there are tools in place to prevent this.
One *shouldn't* expect unlimited "rights" to slashdot or unlimited "voice". It is an open community. But that doesn't mean that there can't be restrictions or that restrictions somehow conflict with this. It *is* geared to present a perspective (Pro-Open-source or Pro-Technology), and that is something that brings people here.
Do you read the _Wall Street Journal_ and get pissed that they have a conservative voice? DO you get pissed that _Cat Fancier_ is pro cat or that _Soldier of Fortune_ is pro-gun. Do you expect slashdot to somehow *not* have some kind of perspective or there not to some form of bias? Sure, it will have less than the examples I just cited, but did you expect it to magically be 100% free of this? If so, the fault is yours, as it is your deluded expectations that cause your frustration with slashdot.
O.P.P: You site the tools that /. can use on users. I have no problem with this. In fact, I think they *should* have tools like this. If you are going to make comparisons to Nazis, I think it would be better to show *how* those tools (bitchslap) are being used in an undesirable fashion, not that they exist. Why are you so upset? Have you been bitch-slapped by the moderators??
Now, having said all of that, I do have to honestly say that I appreciate O.P.P. posting the info that he did. I'm glad I happened across it. And if it sounds like I flamed O.P.P. just a little bit, I didn't mean to single him out -- his was just the post I was responding to. He, at least, had an intellegent way of approaching the "Rob/Slashdot is anti-democratic tyrant" argument (more so than just saying "slashdot sucks!!")
The thing that set me off about his posts was the "I am not willing to assist in a reign of terror that I find to be reprehensible" comment. You know, like everyone else, you *DON'T* have to read the site. There are pleanty more out there. If you aren't willing to constructivly build the community, then stop your bitching and go find somewhere that *is* to your liking. Hell, O.P.P, you seem smart enough to start your *own* site where true "democracy" runs rampant and anyone can say/do/urinate whatever/wherever they want to.
