Garriott's New Project Cooking Along

omeros writes "Looks like Garriott's latest project will have plenty of human support, as much of the creative staff from Origin has joined him in the hills outside Austin. They've just moved to a larger space. Also Jake Song, creator of "Lineage," will be working with Destination Games on their first title, "Tabula Rasa." Ultima fans rejoice!"

    It was so late and over budget becuase Garriot has no clue as to how to make a decent 3d engine, He shoulda just bought another engine off someone else for the game. I mean when the game was first released it only worked with 3dfx cards, which even then their market share was dwindling fast. Luckily in addition to my TNT2 i had a 3dfx pci card. But even running Glide the thing was thrashing my hardrive to death. The graphics looked a little worse than quake 2 but it ran waaaay slower...at the time quake3 was released and running fast. Garriot might have known what he was doing in the Apple II days when he got his start, but in this new gameing landscape that old fart is lost.

    I just heard sad news on talk radio - Horror/fiction writer Stephen King was found dead in his Maine house this morning. I'm sure we'll all miss him - even if you didn't read his books you've probably enjoyed one of his movies. Truly an American icon.
