    First of all, I logged in so I'd be taken seriously (plus I got 50 karma, I can burn some without duress).

    don't worry, i switched it back.

    i hope taco will fix it too. sadly, i'm taking a far more proactive approach to getting bugs fixed, as i always do. he may just fix it by banning my account again, but we'll see.

    there are all kinds of ways to QA a system. mine is the least nice.

    So this isn't really a bug in Slashcode, this is only an exploit for stupid browsers that insist on rendering anything remotely resembling HTML

    Why do you think I named the link "IE5 patch"? It's only a bug in Internet Explorer - which is why Taco never spotted it. He doesn't use shit software. But his readers do!

    Speaking of Perl...

    This is a plea for developers to stop writing
    their install support scripts using Perl. I
    really don't want to have to install Perl just
    so I can install your package. Please use sh/bash/
    ksh!! Shell is the linga franca of Unix and bash
    and ksh are capable of anything Perl can do.
    Besides, if your support script is so complex
    that it can't be done with the Bourne shell then
    you are probably doing something wrong to begin
    with.

    Please, for humanity's sake, stop using Perl!
