Microsoft vs. Ximian

Kappelmeister writes "The open source movement gets some great mainstream press today as the Washington Post reports tht Ximian's Volunteer 'Army' Fights Microsoft on Open-Source Code. It mentions Linux progress in the server market, Shared Source, and how both sides are courting Mexican President Vincente Fox for use in his 'eMexico' initiative to get 98 percent of the population online. Best of all, though, it tells a lot of people that there is a decent alternative to Microsoft software."

Why can't he get 98% of his population to learn to read and take a bath. Forget the internet. Get them out of the sewers of Mexico City.

Hasn't President Fox's goal of getting 98% of the Mexican Population Online already been completed? The last time I looked about 98% of Mexico is in The United States and we have excellent connections to the Internet.

eMexico? 98% of the population ONLINE? Try getting 98% of the population fed properly first.

Sounds more like propaganda for Linux users (ok, so it can apply to the bsd bunch as well, but most of them realize that it is stupid to try to make a great stream lined server into a clunky desktop with shit for App support. Come on guys, the more you add code to the kernal to make it a better desktop the worse it will preform as a server). Slashdot is becoming more and more "Lets pat Linux on the back and pertend we are winning". Jesus guys. Lay up. I don't care about every little bug Microsoft produces (they have the most code of any company in the world, is it little surprise that people can find bugs in all that. Seems to me linux has a couple bugs too, or did Slackware's site not get cracked...). Nor do I care about every little minor victory for linux. What I want is news for nerds and I am reading less and less of that here. I think you should give the slogan to Ars Technica, at least they try to post news instead of marketing propaganda.
