Boiling Water In Zero G

Dr. Manhattan writes: "NASA has released some movies showing how water boils in microgravity... and it's very different from how it behaves at one G. This has implications for the design of cooling systems in space and perhaps power plants on Earth."

    Ahem - "Using a freon coolant as their liquid, they conducted a series of boiling experiments on the space shuttle during 5 missions..." [bold added by me] and the exact info on the substance in those main boiling photos (the one showing lots of bubles compared to one big one) is preciesly "Fluid: Freon R-113, Heat Flux: 8 W/cm2 , Subcooling: 5 F." As listed on POOL BOILING EXPERIMENT as linked to in the article.

    Please don't look at these movies or pictures! Some of the crew of the ISS are desperately hungry for a boiled egg, and the more hits these images get the longer it will take!
