Songfile (lyrics.ch) Trails Off
dave256 writes: "I was recently wandering about looking for some lyrics and CD track listings, and going to my good old standby, lyrics.ch (and summarily suffering through the redirection to songfile), I noticed a notice:'On September 30, 2001, the International Lyrics Server website will be closed and all lyrics will be removed from the Songfile web site.
Thank you for your support, and we appreciate your past patronage.
Please direct any questions or inquiries regarding this change to lyrics@harryfox.com.' Who was this masked harryfox.com? Boy was I (not) surprised. I for one will miss the old beast."
The lyrics.ch site has survived some tough times before, so perhaps this isn't really its end.
The reasons should be pretty obvious. You can't break copyright forever. Pirate sites on the internet that make a living stealing content and suppplying it as their own, as if they were performing a legitimate service, are being shut down faster and faster, as corporate legal teams get used to the business of internet copyright enforcement.
The lyrics on that site were the property of the singers and bands who wrote them, and I feel that lyrics are more personal a possession than any solid consumer object could ever be. Stealing artists lyrics, which come from the heart, is just a black deed, and I'm glad people are finally putting a stop to this sort of thing.

Not even the Linux wannabes! No one gives a rats arse about this so-called "news". Jeez, you guys are getting more and more desperate to prove that Linux is viable in some way, but only suceed in proving yourselves wrong. You failure really speaks for itself.
Fuck Linux, it shows how good Windows actually is... People don't use Windows out of ignorance, they use if because it's the better system. And don't you forget it.

What to do if you happen upon a peace rally by stupid naive hemp-shirt-wearing college idiots, to teach them why force is sometimes needed:
- 1. Approach dumb rich ignorant student talking about "peace" and saying
there should be, "no retaliation."
Repeat steps 5 through 8 until they understand that sometimes it is necessary to punch back.2. Engage in brief conversation, ask if military force is appropriate.
3. When he says "No," ask, "Why not?"
4. Wait until he says something to the effect of, "Because that would just cause more innocent deaths, which would be awful and we should not cause more violence."
5. When he's in mid sentence, punch him in the face as hard as you can.
6. When he gets back up to up to punch you, point out that it would be a mistake and contrary to his values to strike you, because that would, "be awful and he should not cause more violence."
7. Wait until he agrees that he has pledged not to commit additional violence.
8. Punch him in the face again, harder this time.
