Intel Gets PA-RISC Engineers
Doctor_D writes "Well it looks like Intel has done it again. They have absorbed more processor engineers, this time from HP. Alpha is gone, PA-RISC is going, what's going to be left? MIPS? SPARC? AMD? Crusoe? "

As Fred Brooks Jr. pointed out, throwing more engineers at a project is often a recipe for disaster. Intel is now top heavy with indian chiefs. Great processors have always been the result of the insight of one man, or small team. In contrast, look at the Intel's current engineering talent tower of Babel - ia32, ia64, PA-RISC, ARM, i960, Alpha - and God knows what else.
