The Environmental Protection Agency has added the beleaguered and much-maligned penis bird to its endangered species list, an EPA spokeswoman said to-day.

"The lateralus phallus maximus is in great danger of becoming extinct," said Pamela Handerson, the EPA's top specialist on the penis bird. "We must join together to make sure this precious beast does not go the way of the SKIDP." She then wiped away a tear from her eye and smeared some Redi-Whip on her exposed nipples.

The reference to the recently extinct Stephen King Is Dead Post was seen by some as tacky and in exceedingly poor taste. The Rev. Jerry Falwell, for example, was not impressed.

"As I sit here," said Falwell on The 700 Club this morning, "and look at all this mourning over the loss of some silly bird, I have no choice but to smear peanut butter on my ass, then open a jar of flies, and as those flies land on my ass, to put my ass within easy biting distance of a Venus fly trap. You have not tasted God until a Venus fly trap has gone to bite your ass and accidentally gotten your nutsack instead!" Falwell was then sacked by Phil Donahue wearing a sequined evening gown.

Handerson was undeterred by Falwell's hateful rhetoric.

"We must unite to save the penis bird," she moaned, sliding a long, slender finger between the soft, moist folds of her labia. "The penis bird has long been a symbol of unity in the troll community. OH GOD, SAVE T-T-THE P-PENIS B-B-B-BIRD!!!"
