100 Mbps Community Fiber Network: Howto

batro writes: "The main page says it all: 'Everything slower than 10 Mbps is just a toy!' This is a nice writeup (with pictures!) of how a 100 Mbps community fiber network in northern Sweden came into being." And if over a grand in connection fees doesn't suit your locale (this took nearly complete neighborhood participation), Nurotek writes: "Check out Proxim's latest press release. They claim that they can push 100Mpbs via the 5Ghz RF band. Wonder if this will work ..."

The street I currently live in is generally populated with non-techies and old people (no ageism intended any silver(haired) surfers out there).

What the fuck is "ageism"? What a pathetic world we live in. I can't think of more than a single -ism word (organism) which is the least bit useful.

Where the mother government's 2,000,000,000 page code of law will prevent you from doing anything to harm yourself or others, preventing the natural elimination of fools and morons from the gene pool by natural selection.

And don't forget: the EU is considering adopting the draconian copyright laws of the US. How's that for innovation? How many of you Swedes are in favor of Draco Rosen, eh? That's right! None! Though I must admit, some of the European nations have some pretty fucked up original laws. Like Germany, where you have to pay a tax on recordable media because the government assumes you're going to pirate something. And don't forget: Sweden is but the child swaying to the Piper's tune. The EU can enflict laws upon you at any time such as it did back a few years ago about copyright duration. I guess we aren't alone in our brilliance, eh?
