Macromedia Sues Adobe, Claims Photoshop Infringes Patent
jmorse writes: "According to this article at sfgate.com, Macromedia is suing Adobe for patent infringement, claiming that Adobe's Photoshop and GoLive products violate a patent they filed in 1998. The article is a little short on details, so I'm wondering if there are other sources with more on this patent." Adobe and Macromedia have been skirmishing and counter-skirmishing over patents for some time now. The AP article doesn't say which patent Adobe is supposed to be violating this time, so just pick any random thing that Photoshop does that Macromedia might have patented and express outrage about it. :)
Photoshop is better software, therefore I say they win...
Just because I AM paranoid doesn't mean they're NOT out to get me.
Well, the AP figured it wasn't important to find details of the case, and that was obviously good enough for ol' Mikey to post about! Thank god for this great journalistic ability in our fair country.

Become a pirate and pay nothing for software... I don't have 10,000 dollars to purchase all the software I need and because I'm only an HS student, I've got little recourse but to pirate my software or use free alternatives. I'm just not comfortable with the GIMP.
This totally rocks. I fucking hate Adobe. (I fucking hate Macromedia too, but that's a story for another time.) I am gratified to see that every day I notice more and more of my colleagues getting hip to the benefit of open source software. Rock on.
