Linux 2.4 Service Pack 14 (!!). I'm running Service Pack 4 just fine and I haven't really seen a reason to apply the latest Service Pack as soon as it comes out, unless the changelog mentioned a significant security fix. Otherwise, if it's not broke, don't fix it

I dont want to sound like an old fart, but isn't this kernel dance a bit too breakneck. Once update per quarter (every 3 months) is acceptable, but an update every 6 days is reckless and irresponsible. Just check the change log - this is nothing more than a bug fix release. THE PREVIOUS VERSION SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN RELEASED UNTIL BUGS GOT IRONED OUT.

I'm off to check the FreeBSD release. Less hectic. Better VM.

Nope, sorry, the chief reason for the existense of the kernel is to provide fodder for /. articles like this one. It also happens to a good compiler benchmark/regression suite, and the uptime dicksize wars it generates are fun, but really, the main reason is useless /. articles.

You're the same person that likes to rag on Jon Katz every time he posts, aren't you? I don't think the editors were listening to you then either..

    1. Most of his posts are crafted to look informative but contain gross factual errors that nobody could make inadvertantly.

    2. Angry Black Man posted to the old Trolltalk.

    3. Angry Black Man often goes for obvious karma-whores early in a story, such as copy-pasting kernel release notes.

    4. Angry Black Man often lies about his identity and flat-out makes things up in order to deceive people.

    5. Angry Black Man lies about his race -- he is NOT Black, he is a pasty-white Adequacy editor. Black people are not intelligent enough to use computers, so obviously he is not black.
