I think the homebrew niche is excellent reading and wonder if there are any sites devoted to just that? Archives of articles, HOWTO's, and related material devoted to those folks that are controlling their garage doors with old serial cards and other neat things."

GameSX - Great site, I've been an active reader for about a year. Lots of information on video game systems.
Arcade Controls.com - Information on building your own arcade controls for emulation and other hobbies.
Sex Pistols Pinball - This guy redid a old pinball machine into a Sex Pistols pinball machine, neat.
The sBox - A Preslashdoted story. Read it here.
CmdrTaco even likes emulation - He made his own MAMEcabinet

But most of the info I needed, I found in the forums at www.mp3car.com
What places do people in the US use to buy chips, etc. mail-order? JAMECO has a nice selection, but they seem to have quite high prices.
ACHTUNG! Das computermachine ist nicht fuer gefingerpoken und mittengrabben. Ist nicht fuer gewerken bei das dumpkopfen.
