    The desire to learn, explore, escape from all the problems 'down here', launch big missiles from space, mine other planets, use other planets as dustbins, rip off other cultures, fight new people, and finaly our 'ttle planet only has a limited life time, some day our sun will go BOOM and (unless we have moved on) we'll all go splat.

    Getting a lot of smart and curious people together and paying them to do something (anything) will yield a lot of good results, that was proven many times over.

    Who new, that a few physicists, trying to login into SLAC library, will code up the U.S first web server, sweaty cosmonauts will need the development of the Gore-Tex, and you will get you ticket by a laser radar.

    Fundamental research pays. Many times over.

    Anyone that does not like linux! Must not know how to use it! Thats my opinion! but really who cares which operating system you use? I use them all!!! Mostly Unix based but I use Win 2000 and hey its not to bad at all!! A little memory hungry but it is good.... But the reason people brad about Linux so much is for the reasons that have been mentioned in the message before me! And one thing it is stable!!! I have Windows 2000 and it crashes! Not heaps but it does spit the dummy.. If you are running a good install of linux it hardly ever happens!! And really this site was a waste of the money it cost to register the domain!!!! USE WHATEVER U LIKE!!!!!!!

      I think you rae right about Win200 it is good, but it doesnt crash for me. So I think it is just as good as Linux. But I have Linux too and it doesn't crash for me too. So they are both good. just my $0.02!!!
