LinuxBIOS Gains Steam
solferino writes: "LinuxJournal has a good overview article about linuxBIOS and where it's currently at (hint : moving like a sleek penguin under arctic ice). Why linuxBIOS? To quote from the article "Currently two different interest groups are working on LinuxBIOS: one working on embedded systems and one building large-scale computer clusters. For these applications the legacy x86 firmware is suboptimal." Yes, this was a slashdot story in March this year but this article is relevant for updating the project status and for providing indepth information."
I know you guys don't like to discuss Slashdot as a whole on the site (and the slashcode). But after this comment by Jamie, admitting to author moderation and the infamous "bitchslapping" script, and the changes to 2.2 that weren't discussed (authors can see IP and subnet of all posts, including anonymous posts, and can sort based on them), I'd like to know what the slashdot population thinks of the changes? Do they feel that their anonymous privacy is being threatened? I understand this is a privately owned site, but it is always known to believe in "free speech", and "privacy", and "Your rights online". What is the community's reaction to the "unnamed changes"??

d.d.s., that's the same thought I had when I read the submission. Furthermore, how far under the ice is this poor lost penguin? If he's a long way from the nearest patch of open sea, I'm worried that he might drown! In conclusion, this only lends credence to the old rumor...
Linux is dying.
Well, to me "sleek penguin" seems an oxymoron; being fat is a survival trait for a bird that swims in ice fields.
The other thing I can think of is that "under arctic ice" (or antarctic ice, as the case may be) would be a place where no one could tell, and I might say that if I had really no clue as to how the project was actually doing. I think that the submitter should really learn some new similes, because his current ones just aren't doing the job.
Even Slashdot wants to hide some things
That's not funny, Woody. It's another variation on an old line. I mean, we KNOW salesmen are annoying.. it's really not worth making yet another one liner about them.. worse, why do people bother picking up these lines?
Woody, I saw one of your films on a transatlantic flight recently.. and let me say.. you really are an old letch. There is surreal genius, and then there's creation of the storyline and the set of a 70s porno. Woody, you have successfully performed the latter.
Seriously, can any fans of Woody Allen please tell me why they find him funny?
