Linux at the Library?
Dean Siren asks: "Has anyone put a copy of Linux at a public or school library, free to check out, copy, install, and return? It's legal, and for many people would be a more convenient way to get ahold of Linux than purchasing or downloading (by putting it in a school library, it's almost as much forced exposure as Channel 1). I'm still talking with my local librarians about it, and wondering if it's an effective way to get 'converts'." What an interesting thought. I may have to check on doing this at my local library and those of you interested in this can check in your neck of the woods, as well. It would be interesting to see how such an idea is received.
Why the fuck would they want to use linux anyway? I think you people regard your toy OSes too highly!
No, that wouldn't help. Maybe donating your clothes to charity (after a good dose of pesticide of course) and streaking through traffic with "KILL ME" written all over your body in permanent marker would help more. Or, at the very least, it would get somewhere other than Slashdot to talk such shit.
:) I'm at work right now (Product development manager), the longest part of my hair is about 1.5 inches and I'm married.... but perhaps you're not especially familiar with the caliber of person that uses linux (hint: you are obviously not of this caliber).
Wow! This must be a PERSONAL letter, just for me!
