I always loved the low-tech v high-tech design decisions that occured on the space program.
When faced with the problem of how to record notes in space, the US spent their dollars and came up with the Space Pen that would write in zero-gee.
The Russians cosmonauts just used a pencil.

Oh, that's incredibly brilliant. Nothing like inhaling lead particles from your pencil shavings while you're floating around in space. It's not like it takes an incredibly brilliant person to design a pen that rights upside down you know. Just pressurize the ink refill. At least they weren't inhaling wood and lead shavings not to mention that shit floating around the cabin into the equipment.
