Mathematical Analysis of Gnutella

jrp2 sent in a paper written by one of Napster's founding engineers. It is a mathematical evaluation of Gnutella discussing why the network won't be able to scale up to any reasonable size. I have been impressed with Gnutella in the past, and have wondered along these same lines in the past.

      Well, it is in the it-warrants-mentioning department.

      Besides, it's only appropriate to follow up a "heralding the death of Napster" discussion with a "Napster founder predicts the death of Gnutella" discussion.

    I seem to remember it was posted ages ago...

    In any case, due to the use of proxies, the problem is not as bad.

    how is the FIRST post to point out that the article is an ancient repeat mod'ed Offtopic and Redundant while the rest posted much later are (Score 5: Informative)???
