Laws to Punish Insecure Software Vendors?

Gambit Thirty-Two writes "An influential body of researchers is calling on the US Government to draft laws that would punish software firms that do not do enough to make their products secure." Yeah that'll work.

I know all the Slashbots will go: "Yay! Now MS will get sued!". But they should keep in mind that OSS companies will get sued as well.

I have never seen a bigger bunch of kooks in my life. You know that crazy guy who sits on the park bench feeding the pigeons and bitches about how the government is stealing from him? That's your more sophisticated Libertarian.

Maybe it is just him, maybe it is the whole Libertarian party.

Anyway, this guy feels that there is nothing wrong with polluting the environment. He sees no issues with dumping toxic chemicals down the drain at his home.

He honestly believes that there should be no environmental regulation and that all those evironmentalists no nothing. He has also stated that the Global Warming and the creation of Carbon Dioxide by humanity is nothing compared to the immense amounts of Carbon Dioxide created by the Earth. He also said that the Earth had no problems with dealing with it before we came along with industry.

When it was pointed out that we are actually adding to that already existing amount and destroying the things (forests) that coped with the Carbon Dioxide, he had nothing to say and blew it off.

So, we are adding additional Carbon Dioxide to the existing large amounts the Earth already generates. We are also destroying the forests that took care of the Cardon Dioxide. LOGIC dictates that there would be more Carbon Dioxide and we know that that causes the temperature of the planet to rise.

If he is the average Libertarian, I might be wrong, then Libertarians are terribly illogical beings and thus should be ignored.

Calls this flamebait, if you will. This is simply what I have seen and what I know of Libertarians. If I am wrong, please correct me.
