MS Buys (Some) SGI Patents

FatRatBastard writes "The Reg. is reporting that Microsoft has purchased the rights to most of SGI's 3D patents. Speculation from the Reg hacks is that MS may want the patents more for crushing OpenGL support than for technology they're building inhouse." Well, crush is strong - but it would give them more leverage with some hardware vendors for sure.

    well duh...you have to look at the date to know that? man...that thing was writen about a year after Quake was made....god.....and to think, befor that it was Doom and Duke Nukem 3D....in retrospect, I can see just how ground breaking Quake was....to bad they butchered it into what Q3 arena became.

    Moderation is an entirely different topic. It has nothing to do with patents being bought. If I could moderate moderations like comments, I'd give the insightful a "+1, funny" rating, but that's just my opinion.
