2.4, The Kernel of Pain
Joshua Drake has written an article for LinuxWorld.com called
The Kernel of Pain.
He seems to think 2.4 is fine for desktop systems but is only now, after a year of release, approaching stability for high-end use. Slashdot has had its own issues with 2.4, so I know where he's coming from. What have your experiences been? Is it still too soon for 2.4?
What a fucktard you are.
If Microsoft released an OS with the teething problems found in 2.4, you would be out with your friends gathering pitchforks & torches.
Face it. 2.4 sucks. Even-numbered kernels are supposed to be STABLE. (ie YOU CAN USE THEM SAFELY)

this guy /knows/ pppd is crashing on him, he at least should have enough gumption to be able to subscribe to a list or email a developer directly and ask for help (and hence maybe be asked "can you do the following .... gdb ... bt ..... ?")
linux on the desktop. i dont really care, neither do the people who write things like pppd daemons or kernel code. this is the domain of the companies who put together distributions.
(and i agree with the other poster that 'talkback' or 'bug-buddy' like stuff for system software would be useful.)
I use Friend/Foe + mod-point modifiers as a karma/reputation system.
