QNX RtP 6.2 World Preview

Jason writes: "OSNews is running an exclusive preview of the brand new version 6.2 of the QNX realtime operating system. The article is going through the installation process, the Photon user interface (lots of screenshots included), the internals, and the advantages and disadvantages of the OS as a desktop system. QNX RtP 6.2 is expected to be released for free (for non commercial usage) before March."

    Having run QNX for a long time I must say that my FreeBSD boxes are alot more fun and feals faster, but the biggest issue is the lack of really good documentation like the BSD 4.4 book.
    QNX is neat though, if it just didn't take 16min to boot on my VMware machine it would be great fun to play with it more often, but it doesn't seam like VMware developers put any priority into BeOS and QNX support.

    QNX installs in around 5 minutes with the Photon desktop, has a beautiful interface, most of the unix commands you know and love will work just fine, the networking capabilities are nice, but the last time I did an online update it trashed my networking setup completely! Let's see, networking actually works, do an online update, no more networking for you...skip QNX unless you *need* a real time system.
