Fox, Universal, Dreamworks SKG and Artisan Entertainment are releasing a series of blockbuster movies onto the format D-VHS, developed by JVC. DVHS offers High Definition TV technology and the possibility of copy prevention, and is able to play old VHS tapes as well."

Reuters is reporting a new digital tape format (D-VHS) to be marketed to upscale households. Interesting highlights include more encryption and claims that it's much higher quality than DVD, though no specifics were given.
