Debian Woody Nearing Release

willybur submits word of this Debian Planet story on the upcoming release of its next stable version. The article says: "According to Anthony Towns (our beloved Release Manager), woody is nearing release. All but three RC base bugs are fixed now, and the bugsquashing party is working through the RC bugs in standard. It's not all good news though. The bad news is that this means we're probably releasing soon, and that of the hundreds of less important packages with RC bugs (eg, bugzilla, craft, crossfire-{client,server}, epic4, fvwm95, gmc, gnome-admin, intuitively, kdepim, moon-lander, tkdesk, wine, and xosview) will be getting randomly ripped out of testing ... Check the stuff that's important to you and get it fixed before it's too late." Says willybur: "See the announcement on debian-devel-announce."

      What's original isn't the Woody joke--that's been done to death. What is original is combining it with the subtle reference to CmdrTaco's upcoming wedding. I expect more from a quality troll.

    Authorities are not commenting officially on what may have happened at the motel, but the Secret Service says it is serious enough to place all three Secret Service agents on administrative leave.

    But a source close to the investigation told the Deseret News that the agents may have been partying with underage girls in the motel room and supplying them with alcohol.

    Duke Nukem Forever has gone gold, hell froze over, and I got a date ;) Seriously though, good from them. It will be nice to have magazines that compare linux distros compare woody vs. redhat, not potatoe (which is woefully old) to redhat.

    Now whatever making a post pointing out that a good way to gain karma is to write a post stating that a good way to gain karma is to say that a post is going to be modded down, is a good way to gain karma i don't know.

    But i'm not gonna say that moderators should not mod this post up, nor am i gonna ask them to mod it down as both statements would have a phycological effect and would hence influence the moderation of this post. So please, just do as you wish.

    Good God. Look at my subject. What a horrible, horrible subject I used. I apologize -- I put "foo" in as a placeholder subject so I could do a preview, and then forgot to change it. I in no way meant it to be "oh foo on Debian" in the grinchy sense. Damn. That probably just painted my entire comment in a light that I did not intend.
