    It figures that something like this would get moderated down. But I'm seriously considering doing this as an alternative to renewing my /. subscription when it runs out. Just look at what they're doing with the personal info you send them with PayPal? That's really, really slimy, and they aren't getting another cent from me until they explain that. Please, if you have moderator points, mod this entire thread up. This needs to be discussed.

    How come this post got modded down to -1 territory? Methinks those with unlimited mod points have a conflict of interest.

    But seriously, I was considering subscribing to the site to support my habit and help keep a great site like this up. I changed my mind when I saw the huge ads that the VA decided to put up to coerce people into subscriptions. Sheesh, why don't you just put them right in the middle of people's comments? They couldn't be much uglier.

    Uh, jamie, we all know that you're about as paranoid as a watermelon at a Southern Baptist church picnic, but Mr. Trooper suggested that people download the script and store it on their own webspace.

    This seems like a very convenient FUD response to the suggestion that there is an alternative to paying for SlashDot without ads. Did you and the others have a huddle before you decided on this response?
