DesignTechnica Reviews Motorola Accompli 009

Ian Bell writes: "Designtechnica does a review of Motorola's new Accompli 009 2-way communicator. 'The ACCOMPLI sports the standard cast of communication and organization features - voice calling, calendar (syncs with Outlook or other personal information management programs), contacts, SMS, web browser, and a splash of ring tones and games. Not so standard is an RF modem that enables you to connect to the Internet through a data cable and operate as you would from a PC... ' While the features look good on paper, the unit has little to be desired. This is the first full review of the Accompli 009 on the net. Thanks guys."

Yeah, maybe they should have chosen a different mail client to sync with, like, er... Oh, I can't think of any Linux ones, BECAUSE NO-ONE USES IT.

Also, newsflash, outlook gets hit by viruses because it can be scripted and allows the user to screw up their own system by running exe's. Neither of these things will screw a device that syncs with it. So there.

Oh yeah, outlook gets targetted by viruses primarily not because it's got craploads of holes in it, but because everyone uses it. Because everyone uses windows! READ IT AND WEEP!

What's the deal with all the pseudo-latin branding in the tech industry lately? We've got ArsTechnica, ArsDigita, and apparently now DesignTechnica.

    Honestly, what's next? DigitalArs(e)?

No, not at all. Does everything Slashdot doesn't review have little to be desired? Certainly not. There's lots of things that Slashdot has not reviewed and never will--several of the stories I've submitted, for example--that I consider to be news and interesting to all the Slashdot nerds.

All I was saying was that if Slashdot does a review of something that has no features that would interest any of the Slashdot community, then by definition, the product or service reviewed would not be of interest to us. The parent story admits itself that the product doesn't seem interesting--therefore, I don't see the logic of posting the story. Why would someone who finds something uninteresting post a story about it to Slashdot? It doesn't make sense to me.

There must be more of them than us, otherwise they wouldn't bother. "Johnson & Sons' Hardware Review" just doesn't have the mass appeal.
