Java on Handheld Devices?

superfred queries: "I work for a Java-based software company, and have been tasked with researching Java on handhelds...I've managed to dig up information on which handhelds support Java (most of the major ones do), but what puzzles me, is if any company is actually *using* this for any reason (besides Java-based handhelds/phones). The Palm OS has apparently supported Java since the Palm V, but has anyone written any software to take advantage of it? Are there any major software developers working on Java applications for handhelds? It seems like a great deal of effort has been used in getting Java on these platforms, but nothing's really utilizing it."

    My favorite Palm device is my penis. I enjoy holding my erect penis and stroking it with my palm. Bonus points come (cum?) when my penis is erect due to Anna Paquin, Natalie Portman, or Kirsten Dunst. And with a little tweaking, my penis can be made to emit clear, chunky white beans, which makes it compatible with java.

    Java reliably crashes Internet Explorer, causes memory leaks, random GPFs.


    The premier browser application is QuickBooks2002 Pro. It sucks rocks. Cannot correctly calculate payroll checks, is always updating itself so the end user never knows how the application will react, and violates every one of the Toz's guidelines. CPAs love it because they charge $250 an hour to support it. It is nothing but a collection of browser scripts using CSS, ASP, and Java. Short Intuit stock, today.

    It really isnt suitable for handhelds which have low cpu (and storage?) resources available.

    The only thing that can save java (from being useless forever) is the gnu java compiler.

    Now im usre someone is going to winge and bitch and try and say java isnt slow... ive heard your arguments already and i say BULLSHIT, java was designed to be slower than other languages.
