Codeweavers' CrossOver Plugin Reviewed

Grok writes: "CodeWeavers' CrossOver Plugin allows Linux users to use software and browser plugins that where once only avaliable on Windows. Version 1.0 was released in late August 2001 to much media furvor, while the release of version 1.1 arrived without much fanfare. Despite the lack of attention by the news media, the new version of CrossOver is a more exciting release than the orginal. The reason? Microsoft Media Player Support. Finally, every major plugin on the internet, along with several obscure ones, are now supported under Linux. (Full Story)"

No. They're just too dependant on the built in spell/grammar checker (a.k.a compiler).

what about running a spellchecker on the article before posting it?

    scary.

...grammar checker too - (Wednesday March 20th, 2002 8:13 AM)
Yeah, a grammar checker would help also. Do any free Linux word processing tools have a grammer checker? No matter the answer... there's no excuse. I *cringe* at the writings of Slashdot editors... let's not spread the misconception that none of us can spell or write proper grammar. That is still important even if you're not getting paid for this.

"that where once only available for Windows". "Where", which means "location", is not interchangable with "were", which is past tense for is/was.

    Otherwise, great article.

    Shoddy work - (Wednesday March 20th, 2002 8:21 AM)
Good grief! When I see spelling and gramatical errors this thick I can only wonder what sort of shoddy job is done on the organization's code. "I'm just not a very good speller." is absolutely no excuse when there are tools available that would correct 90% of these errors. Dyslexia is one thing (transposition of letters and such), but this is either stupidity or laziness and I don't really think it's the former.

Oh, darn spelling errors - (Wednesday March 20th, 2002 8:43 AM)
This is a quite an interesting and informative article. I'm thankful the author has spent the time writing it down. I assume he had other things to do than spell check his stuff -- that's fine with me.

Has any one of you complainers run the text through a spell/grammar checker and sent the improved version to the author? No? Oops.

    Anyway, here's your money back.
