ACM Programming Contest Results

An anonymous submitter writes: "Shanghai Jiao Tong University has won the 2002 ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest with six of nine problems solved. Also solving six problems were MIT (2nd), University of Waterloo (3rd), Tsinghua University (4th), and Stanford University (5th). You can view the problems online, as well as the final standings. Congratulations to all!"

    I checked this out a while earlier. It's nothing but an advertising pitch.

    Try filling out the registration form; the whole thing is survey to gauge your knowledge of industry buzzwords ("Rate your ability at using Oracle databases from 1-5"). They really care nothing about your *skill* as a programmer.

    I thought the point of this thing was to help differentiate among programmers, where the traditional means (of comparing buzzword-lists on resumes) was insufficient. This is just more of the same, but on a web site instead.

    Hooray, we have another way for companies to pull our resumes off of the internet...
