Google Publicizes DMCA Takedowns

dmarti writes "In an apparent response to criticism of its handling of a threatening letter from a Church of Scientology lawyer, the popular search engine Google has begun to make so-called "takedown" letters public. DMCA-censored pages are now two clicks and a cut-and-paste away from the regular search results."

when you send a letter to a person, I believe that the reciever gets certain rights to use that letter. what the lawyer sould have done is put at the top " this text is a copy protection that has the intent of keeping you from publishing this to the web"

that way, the mear act of putting it on the web would have menat that Google circumvented the protection......though, the act of circumventing a copy restriction is not illegal....so perhaps the lawyer and the church are SOL.
