An Anonymous Coward writes "Out in Oakland, CA a group is taking donated PC's and breathing new life into them with Linux. They turn around and donate the computers to schools, build POVRAY render farms (with MOSIX) and generally promote Linux."

    This is probably illegal if any of the donated computers had Windoze.

    Sounds worthy, but you have to know, once these guys get into the workforce, they are gonna have nothing but useless skills. (unless of course, they want to be programers)

    Kinda like the kids that came up on MACS...

    Kinds of reminds me of the mindset that caused a lot of these Carriers to go under....

    "We have to have the latests and greatest technology on our network, otherwise, we won't have any customers!"

    "None of this technology actually allowed us to deliver services to the customer. We are filling for chapter 11 protection, while are assets are liquadated... (Sneaks off to spend his 100s of millions of dollars of ill gotten gains for 'supporting' all that gee-wiz tech that never worked)

    your PII 300 machine has a faster FPU than an Athlon 850. So does a crusty P-Pro.
