Sun's Linux Exec Departs

HyperbolicParabaloid writes "The NY Times (free reg blah blah) has an article about the departure of Sun's no.2 exec, but also mentions that Stephen DeWitt, the vice president of an important business unit that leads Sun's efforts with the Linux operating system, quietly left Sun on Friday, the company confirmed today."" And the question is: How will this affect projects like OpenOffice release and the on-again, off-again McNealy Linux relationship.

    • To choose Conversative or Labour is to choose to go the current way of America. Do you really want $20,000 medical bills? If so, show your affinity for the Tories. Do you like a lapdog for G. W. Bush for your leader? If so, show your affinity for Labour.
    • To not vote at all is to play on the apathy which has made Labour so strong. And we must take a warning from France as to what else abstainment will do!
These are not general elections, so you may have individual causes that are important to you, and override the candidates' party affiliations. This is OK. But remember, the spirit of the nation is reflected in the sum of the attitudes of its individual people, which begins with local democracy.

Yes, democracy is a mess, but think how much worse it is in countries where there is no opportunity at all to have a voice.

The 1p suggested by the Liberal Democrats will already be implemented by Labour.

The Conservative party has, like the Republican in the US, rarely put its "Freedom and Low Taxes" mantra into practice, replacing it with "Corporate interests and high taxes to protect 'em".

Remember, of course, that Inland Revenue taxation is not (directly) affected by these elections. The vote is concerning local issues. For example, I live in a mostly Conservative area where the already extremely rich council adores hiking up council tax, providing planning permission to turn whole streets into sets of bars/cafes (the last of the two reasonable bookshops recently being pushed out of town for the replacement bar), and so on. The area has turned from one of reasonably priced housing and fantastic calm and safety to a weekend retreat for yuppie City commuters.
