First Looks at Suse 8.0 / KDE 3.0

The Register has a first look article on Suse 8.0 and KDE 3.0. Short story: they liked both, pretty much. I think the section on installation -- notably its length -- speaks volumes about the 'which is easier, Linux or MS' debate, too." There's also a review of the new SuSE up at Newsforge with some more details.

And all that playing around took how long before he could actually use the thing? After spending how long praticing (he does clearly say you need to know what you're doing)?

At my charge out rate I wonder how many copies of Windows I could buy for the same time ...

are you saying you want microsoft to ship Visual Studio, Office, IE, and a multitude of other apps with the OS? I thought that was why they were in court. I know a lot of us are hipocrits, but acusing microsoft of being anticompeditive because of IE, and then comending Linux distros for having 7 CD's full of stuff just seems wrong.

Windows still lets you pick and choos what you want to take off after the install. :)
