zootsuite writes "Space.com is reporting that a Russian space shuttle is on the auction block today. Minimum asking price: $6 million." Nothing says white trash like having
a multimilliondollar russian space shuttle rusting on your lawn! Better yet,
someone could buy it COD ;)

having trouble getting my bonus

Dear slashdot community (esp. moderators),
For several days now I have been trying to reclaim my rightful +1 bonus, so cruelly stolen from me earlier this week.
I currently have 25 karma.
That means I need only one more point to get my bonus back! If you have an extra moderator point, rate this "Underrated" (that way you won't get burned in M2). You will be doing the entire community a favor, as I tend to post much better messages with a +1 bonus. Plus, my very first bonus post will be Insightful, and the added visibility will help me quickly get modded up, and I will be in "safe territory" once more.
Thank you so much for your help. Every little bit helps.

Okay, my karma is like 10 now.
Fine.
:(
I will have to just go back to doing it the old fashioned way. I take my karma very seriously, and soon will be wealthy once more.
At that point, expect some very hi-profile and well-modded posts from this corner.
I don't give up without a fight, that's for sure.
In fact, I like a good fight. That's why I use Linux.

There are so many inconsistencies and abuses in the system, it's absurd. I mean, not to play the martyr, but look at me: been reading slashdot since '98, relatively low UID, never purposefully trolled, etc. Yet a metamod bitchslap, when I had the audacity to mod up a well-reasoned post defending MS back in early 2000 put my karma at -10. Now here's the weird part. I still posted at 1 until my karma got above 0, then I started posting at 0, and have been ever since.
I corresponded with taco about a year ago on this, and his answer was "read the source". Assuming the SW is performing exactly as designed, how is "the source" going to explain the reasoning for such behavior? Assuming, of course, that I want to take the time to pick up Perl.

nothing personal, but could you slashdot readers be a little bit more comprehensive for those who aren't native English speakers and/or don't love the way US citizens use acronyms?

Why are you such a willing slave to the karma?
True freedom is found only below -5 karma when you start posting at -1.
Slashdot moderation system is fatally flawed. Since the editors have an unlimited pool of moderator points which they are willing at abuse, karma is nothing but doublespeak for censorship and leads to groupthink (ask yourself: do you dare to post something critical of linux?).
