Security, Due Process and Convenience

teambpsi writes: "CNN is running an article about ISPs' concern over having law enforcement present during a court-ordered search. Since we are an ISP, I can understand the concern, however, also being a privacy freak, I think it adds a certain weight to the decision of wether to file the search in the first place. It adds a certain levity. I'm not sure what percentage of these search warrants are unnecessary, but I think that having due process in place is important. Opinions?"

As a side note, this has been on CNN's website all day - Slashdot sure is great about reporting other people's news.

Perhaps you all need to realize that most of the people using the internet are using it to do bad things.

If skipping out on due process to stop someone from harming myself or other - I could care less.

You don't know who they really are. This is to those people who hold a stupid bias toward police.

Bias or not, I've observed three types of cops

    1. Idealists. Believe in the law, in law enforcement as a helping profession. These guys don't last.

    2. Power trippers. Mirrored sunglasses. Get off on calling people "boy." Vindictive and petty.

    3. Those with interest in other professions, particularly technology. These tend to end up in computer forencics, fabric^H^H^H^H^Hcollecting evidence.
