Alphanumeric Phone Keypad - Fastap

seldo writes "The illustrious BBC has a story about a new mobile phone keypad, designed by a company called Digit Wireless, headed by one Mr David Levy, who "was head of ergonomic design at Apple for five years and was influential in the layout of its Powerbook laptops," according to the article. I don't know how it is to use, but it looks really funky. There's a demo on the site (javascript popup, so no link). The sooner I don't have to deal with the stupid 3-letters-per-button interface to send SMS, the better."

Al writes, I don't care what anyone thinks, I love my new ghost hunting hobby......I just hope i don't over step the ghostly boundary and get in spirit trouble. three weeks ago I had a visitor in my room, trying to get into my body while i was half asleep. it was about one in the morning, I felt this powerful push into my chest and up towards my chin there was no pain so i knew i wasn't having a heart problem. i recognized the effect. it happened a couple of times ten years ago when i was a volunteer on one of our haunted ships. i couldn't talk, my chin wouldn't move and i was terrified. all I could do was think real hard the words " get out, go away, get out!!" after about 30 to 45 seconds, i could feel it leaving. i was afraid to go home the next day. but when i did , i had quite a talk with "whom ever" i felt at ease right after and have had no trouble since. knock on wood. __AL

Now if the phone makers program their firmware right, does that mean we can now dial 1-800-COLLECT, 1-800-G0ATSECX (wonder if that's taken), etc. without having to either memorize or decipher the letters associated with each digit?

My name is Erin and this happened to me a couple of years ago, and now finally I am able to talk about it. I was living in Eastern Connecticut near a haunted cemetery called Union cemetery. (I have seen photos of it on your site). The area had a lot of strange happenings going on. People said the cemetery had an aura of evil around it. There were numerous ghost sittings, and the Catholic church down the street regularly performed exorcisms. At night I always noticed flashes of light going off at night, like camera flashes. But, they usually stopped and I thought I was imagining it.

Then after this one night I knew I wasn't imagining things. The lights starting flashing that night and didn't stop, I couldn't sleep because it was bothering me. My neighbor who lived above me had a motion detector light that would go on several times during the course of a night flooding our room with daylight like conditions. Well, the light went on and at first I thought it was an animal like it usually was, but animals were usually scared away by the light. The light would go off and go right back on again.

I was thoroughly annoyed by now, I was convinced someone was playing games, using camera flashes and motion detector lights to piss me off. I pulled the covers up determined to ignore the lights. I was just about to drift off to sleep, when I heard a strange menacing voice speaking words I didn't understand. I won't say a different language because it was unlike any language I've heard. My heart started pounding, my eyes flew open and that's when I saw it, a black blob slowly moving across the ceiling of my room, then sliding down the walls. I closed my eyes and pulled the covers up over my head and I didn't sleep at all the rest of the night.

I continued seeing the flashing lights and hearing the voice periodically during years of living there. I never saw the blob again. After we moved I told my husband about what I saw and heard in that house at night, I was afraid he would think I was crazy, imagine my surprise when he told me he saw the lights and heard the voices too, and never told me for the fear of the same thing.
