Surveillance Update

Several things occurred within the past few days on the privacy/surveillance frontier. First, the EU Parliament decision we mentioned yesterday is being widely reported as an assault on privacy (the European press barely mentions the spam angle we covered yesterday). As far as I can tell, this decision will loosen the EU's protections against surveillance, but does not implement any spying itself - national governments are free to NOT spy on their citizens, in the (perhaps unlikely) event that they don't want to do so. In the U.S., the FBI will be increasing their general surveillance - that is, they'll be doing more surveillance unrelated to any suspected crime, using commercial databases, etc. We can expect the Bureau to be used for more overtly political uses in the future - spying on the not-in-power political parties is no longer prohibited and will, therefore, occur. The NYT has an interesting analysis. Finally, the Washington Post reports that banks will be creating a massive financial database/blacklist of terrorists, wife-beaters, anti-globalization protesters, etc.

agreed; most of us are too busy sitting on our lazy asses to beat anyone, and at the same time I have to say that anyone who would've gotten upset about a database full of wife-beaters, etc is retarded anyway.

Screw your concerns about privacy. When someone breaks the law, is a danger to other people, the information regarding that should be saved, and even publicly accessible. If you do something that horrid, it *should* follow you around forever. You don't *deserve* any better. Women should be able to make sure their boyfriend isn't flagged as trouble before they get stuck in something like that.

Same deal for sex offenders, child molestors, etc.

And fuck you if you say give an inch, they take a mile. We give criminals more than an inch, more than a mile by letting them go on anonymously so they can reoffend without anyone being cautious about them.

You give your child an inch by feeding him. He doesn't usually take a mile by moving the fridge into his room, making the grocery list for you, and carefully controlling the food distribution in your household.

By the way, if you fuckers haven't realized it by now, email and shitfuck whatnot otherfucking ways of communicating on the fucking whore-ass internet aren't as secure as you want them to be, never have been, and aren't likely to be in the near future.

You cockless YRO watchdogs should fucking consider for once that you shouldn't send anything out that you can't afford to have someone other than the intended recipient reading, unless you're positive it will make it there safely and uninterrupted. Even still, an agency like the FBI certainly has the authority and also the ability to read it anyway, so if you're afraid of them, if you don't want someone reading what you wrote to your bitchslut shemale peniscunt mother asking how dad is and thanking her for the cookies she sent you, then tough shit, send it on paper.

Too lazy to pick up a pen? Too quick to say "But email *should* be safe and private. I need my privacy. The government this, Big Brother that. I'm a whiny whorefucker that pisses and moans about anything the least bit unpleasant. What about the constitution? What about my rights? I should be able to say whatever I want to whoever I want, do whatever I want, and nobody should be able to interfere with that. I should be able to send an email knowing it'll be private."

Big news you fucking scatfreak: there is no totally secure way to communicate. NONE. Not even face to face, whispering, in the middle of the forest with nobody around.

If another 3000 people die, more huge buildings are lost, the economy gets fucked with, and any number of other terrorist related things happen, you'll bitch that the governments of the world should've stepped up security to stop it from happening again.

NEWS FOR YOU, YOU ASSLICKING SHITFREAK: who crashed those planes? Where did they live? Where did they learn to fly? In what country did they communicate with each other???

If you don't want it to happen again, then you fucking shitfaces will have to realize that certain concessions will have to be made. The reason this happened in the first place is that the government got lax on its intelligence, gave people like the ones who complain about this fucking rot all of their everfucking precious freedom, said dance around like naked STD infested unbathed hippies under a fucking rainbow with birds nesting in your hair and make love to each other in your perfect liberated world, here's your fucking cuntass freedom, hope you like it, hope you're happier with us for giving it to you so you'll keep us in power, and ignore the other shit we're doing...THAT is why it happened. If they weren't too busy trying to please people who expect a little too much out of life, who don't consider the ramifications of their simplistic ideas of how things would be in a perfect world, then they probably could've stopped this thing from happening.

FUCK YOU. You fucking WHORES. SUCK BALLS. If you have a better idea on how to keep yourselves safe, without anyone having to sacrifice any freedoms, outline your perfect plan that treats everybody equally, changes nothing about how the world works, but somehow eliminates the risk that's been here all along. Why aren't YOU doing anything but whining about your pissdrinking rights?

I'll give you rights: the right to live in a society that is *still* despite changes, freer than most or many others in this world. The right to live in safety. The right to express yourself. The *right* to piss and whine about everything your governments do, just like you people are doing here. We've got it really easy people. *REALLY EASY*. Even at its worst, life here is better than it is elsewhere, unless *you* choose a dangerous path.

but OH NO, SOMEONE MIGHT READ MY EMAIL, BECAUSE I'M OBVIOUSLY REALLY IMPORTANT AND A POSSIBLE TERRORIST RISK. OH NO, EVEN IF THEY READ IT, FOR THE SAFETY OF THE COUNTRY, ALL THEY WILL FIND OUT IS THAT I'M WRITING TO TELL MOM THAT I MISS HER AND DAD.

    FUCK YOUR RIGHTS.

    FUCK YOUR FREEDOM.

YOU WANT SAFETY? YOU WANT FREEDOM? MAKE A COMPROMISE AND DEAL WITH IT! You ask for these things then balk at the cost. A small price to pay to make fundamental and life saving changes to your way of life.

fuck you whorecunts. Don't like it? Move to Iraq or some other shithole pissfuck country. See how horrible your government is for doing a bit of monitoring, when criticising another government is considered *dangerous*.

You might ask who dropped the ball next time terrorists attack, when it's discovered that the attackers planned the whole thing over email, email that was easily accessible to the government. Another few thousand people died, needlessly, never to breathe, smile, laugh, cry, raise their children, speak to their families, or anything else again, and why?

You don't like the thought that some agent of the government somewhere, who probably doesn't know you and never will, or better yet, a computer, might scan your email to make sure it doesn't give away vital information that might have saved those lives.

    You can keep your freedom.

Maybe you'll also slit your wrists if you're ever taken prisoner for some reason, since it seems you're of the mind that it's intolerable to live unless you're ungrateful ass is totally free.

I'd give my life to save another human being. I'd also give my freedom.

Time to pull your dick out of your watchdog and see that you never gain anything without sacrificing anyone else. If you want safety, deal with the cost. If not, don't feel sad or angry the next time something horrible happens.

This post started as a quick agreement/admonition about the person who posted the article using wife-beaters as an example of some who would be exploited by the system, in a way that implied that we should be rising up to defend wife-beaters and their rights to beat in silence and anonymity, because they're so upstanding. That's fucking bullshit and if you don't agree, you're a piece of shitmunching trash and somewhere deep down you know it.

This turned into a rant because the more I typed, the more I thought about how selfish people are when it comes to their privacy. How foolish they are. How selfish they are in what they think they deserve. You deserve nothing but what you make for yourself. Everything else is a gift, one that you are lucky to have received. One that many people do not have.

This post is anonymous because people don't like the truth. People don't like to hear everything about how wrong they are, don't like to see it tossed in their faces, plain as day, because they were hoping everyone else would just jump on the gov't bashing bandwagon and ignore the idiocy of it. People don't like seeing that they don't have solutions, that they said something stupid that doesn't hold to examination. People don't like not being able to answer to something, and rather have to admit to themselves that someone else is right, and that they are completely wrong and selfish.

I won't sign a name to this, because people don't understand, don't have the brains to agree, and because it's dangerous to be the one to tell the hard truth, as I've done in other situations in other aspects of life, always to be made the bad guy, but always right in the end. I won't have people think I'm an asshole and remember my name. I'll rather just say, think about this, and come up with a solution. That way, if I'm wrong, I won't feel too bad. I have the same failings as anyone else.

    you fucking whores.
