Tonetheman writes "Walmart is now shipping low cost PC's with Lindows pre-installed. And yes I know there was a review earlier on Slashdot about installing Linux on one of these bad boys. This is different and much more exciting. To think of the legions of rednecks who could now possibly be running Lindows instead of Windows..." There's a Newsforge story too. Ya know, it really disturbs me that this kind of blatant stereotyping is going in a "enlightened group discussion" on /.. I myself shop at Wal-mart and have been on occasion referred to as a redneck. Actually, the most redneckian person I know was into building computers and stuff. I guess he thought it wasn't much different than working on cars. He even kept it on the front yard with the case open, sitting on a cinder block. Looked kinda artistic with the yellow grass neatly outlining it.

They might buy them if you convinced them that buying a computer would be more fun than driving their pickup truck. Replying to my own post. Yeah. I know there's no BSOD in Lindows (probably? they might include it for full compatability), but the same could be said for the first kernel panic or ext2 fsck problem. The point is, computer + redneck = doorstop (or mini beer table, or foot rest, etc).
