Progress Toward Single Molecule Transistors

Fungii writes "There is an amazing story over at sciencedaily.com saying two research teams have managed to create single molecule transistors, looks like we don't have to worry about limitations on feature sizes for a while."

    This should really be a boon for portable devices, as smaller sizes are always benificial to them. Incidentally, portable devices are also an area that Linux truly shines. Once products are developed that take advantage of these new single molecule transistors, I would wager that the first OS you will see running on them is Linux. As companies are able to see the portability of Linux onto cutting-edge devices for themselves, they will begin to leave propritary embeded Windows OSes (CE, NT embedded, XP embedded) for the much more dynamic Linux.
