Toshiba's iPod Competitor

a lonely moose writes: "It looks like Toshiba basically copied Apple's iPod. They got cheap on screen size and unit weight, and without iTunes, it'll be darn hard to handle as elegantly as the iPod. Anyway, check out MacCentral's article and the smoking forum at the bottom."

30 seconds to transfer an album (60 Mb) of music?

that's like 45 minutes to fill it up! Shouldnt 480 Mbps transfer rate be able to fill it in like 100 seconds? So basically system has a hard drive that can write at around 20 mbps, but we need a 480mbps bus? This points to a crucial flaw in USB 2.

Talk about confusing, MacOS X is fucking confusing as hell. I spent 2 hours today trying to figure out how to get something simple like file sharing working on it. Under Linux or even Win2k this is a NO BRAINER and takes a couple of seconds. MacOS X's administration screens are all over the fucking place and nothing is consistent or logically placed.

Seriously. Who's leading the market? Who's introducing things that are getting adopted? Apple.

USB, Firewire, DVD-R, mass-adoption of digital displays.. Apple leads, the masses follow.
