Customizing Apache for maximum performance

    Start -> Control Panel -> Add Remove Programs -> Windows Setup -> Internet Information Server.

    Make sure there is a tick next to the program.

    In addition to requiring registration to read the tutorial, it has this nice tid-bit:

    System requirements
    You should have Netscape 4.x or Internet Explorer 4.x installed, with JavaScript enabled.

    I don't know anybody who still has either Netscape 4.x or IE 4.x.
    I'm pretty sure apache tuning doesn't care that much about your browser anyway. ;)

    Step 2: Install IIS (this may involve buying and installing Windows and wiping the hard drive).

    thttpd is the server to use. It's a lean, mean web-serving machine (low memory and cpu usage). It just does it's job really well. It's not as full of options as Apache, but sometimes, that's just not important.

    You pathetic hypocrite. While you're eating crow, why don't you plug the glaring leaks in your site? You can't code worth shit, and any script kiddie with a rudimentary port scanner and trojan prog could own you in a split second. Dumbass.

      And as for coding worth a shit, I never claimed to, and I don't at all. So would you mind pointing out my "glaring" errors?

      You Open Sores developers get way too worked up over trivial shit. Take up yoga or tai-chi before you have a heart attack at age 27.

    The "tutorial" was pretty light on details.

    I finished in about 5 minutes and I rated it darn low. The resource links were good, but I'm sure you could find those same links or better with some crafty google searches.

    This tutorial could not have come at a better time. So i though until i read the thing. Being new to apache I am always looking for articles and information on the subject. This tutotial seemed like it was missing alot of information. Although it did have some excelent links and ideas for those you know something about the apache system.
