QueueEhGuy writes "CNN is reporting that the Swedish Postal Service, Posten, is now offering a service where customers can choose to receive spam via a free, government run, service. Business are given the option of using this at a 25% discount from carrier delivered mail. For those of us with physical addresses, it raises an interesting question as to which one is less annoying, environmental benefits aside." Interesting step towards charging postage for email.

I.. plebius zurg present to you the worlds longest troll for your viewing satisfaction. After having an especially sucky week on Slashdot- having 3 very insightful comments modded down to hell, I'm fed up with it with all the intolerance and lack of humor that the moderators on slashdot have. Of course I'm not talking about everyone... everyone gets the chance to moderate but there are a group of 'full time slashdotters' who use multiple logins to boost their own scores and bring down any whose opinions they don't like. Ever notice how most of the leading comments have the same .sig, or comments from different authors have the same .sig. There are people here with a whole collection of logins... which also means they likely have moderator access more often than they do not. Using this method they artificially inflate their own scores. Add to that the fact that when their karma is high enough their scores start out with a rating of 2 therefore increasing their visibility even further. Slashdot ought to do some more aggressive measures to counterbalance this activity. I suggest IP matching. One one login name can be used from a certain IP address within a 24 hour period. If you try to do differently... slashdot will tell you to take a hike or just present the pages to you as an anonymous user. Some clever users will be able to have multiple IP addresses but this will knock out a pretty good percentage of people that do this. I personally think such abusers should be beaten with a stick, then handcuffed to a tree and have their tongue pulled out with a pair of pliers. Then get a pack of starving mice to chew on their toes for a while. While this might be a good and fair treatment of such individuals... it may be against the laws of some less-enlightened countries.
