This is a open letter to the slashdot editors.
Say, shouldn't a site like slashdot that (according to themselfs) stands for free speech allow free speech? Or is your version of free speech "you can think whatever you want to aslong as you think like me"?
I understand if people who are posting floding-crap, goatsex links, offensive material or something like that gets blocked but for just posting some FACTS politly or some opinions that isn't the same as theirs?
I have been censured on this site for (a couple of examples) 1: Just clarifying that most recordlabels aren't doing that great these days, as of matter of fact most are in the red at this point (for their music departments). Ofcause this doesn't mean record companies should be allowed to behaive however they like to, but thats a different issue. I was just objecting to the editor statement that they made huge amount of money and this itself was supposed to be evil in some strange, unclear way.. 2: Posting some facts about what distributioncosts there is associated with publishing newspaper, magazines and similuar things. The distribution costs are quite insignificant comparing with the labour cost, witch shows that despite the banner-ads (newspapers and magazines also has this) most internet publishers will not make it since the savings on distributioncosts aren't that much of an issue, they need to charge for their content or go out of business. 3: Stating my opinion that for developers there is little chance of supporting yourself on open source with service&support. I mean, how many buys service&support for an editor, wordprocessor, instant messenger, games, music players, drivers and so on. People that do need support in general goes to IBM that has world wide reach. This is what I think, you may think whatever you want to but you shouldn't censor me for just expresing my views on things.
It this something you should be censured for?
You have a quite screwed up idea of what free speech means (your perception of what free speech is seems to be limited to warezing mp3's).

ok, why dont you give us links to what you wrote so we can build an opinion on the actual postings, and why are you posting as an anonymous coward? No offence, I agree with you in general but without the details how can i be sure?

I posted the "Open letter to the slashdot editor dictators". Right after I posted it they blocked my IP (within a minute) and I guess they where the ones modding it down also, I'm temporary posting from another machine.
I haven't been talking on slashdot for quite a while (since I don't like censuring), unfortunately I haven't used my other hotmail-account where my user was registred so all e-mails got erased because of inactivity (thats apperently how hotmail works). I haven't got around to register a new user either so thats why I posted AC.
Since the postings in discussion (number 1,2 and 3 in my post) was posted as AC also I really don't know how to find the actual posts, it was a month or so and I don't remember the headlines they where posted under so well but I guess I could try to find them. Ofcause my "old-days" posts are also there somewhere, I don't remember what was in them since it's a couple of years ago I posted them, but they got censured for no reason also. I just remeber the three more recent ones in my open letter.
I think the slashdot way of censuring every opinion or even simple facts they don't like is simply outraging.

Censured? E-mail URLs to me, and I'l look at them - but if you are talking about moderation, that's not censure, that's moderation. Your post still exists, and people who want to read it will.

I mean, not one of them is smart enough to use condoms when they go down on each other, waiting for iTools (sorry,.Mac) to be generally acclaimed as "what we're in the computer business for, after all."
They're such homosexuals, and their girlfriends are actually she-males. Just look at Steve Jobs. Ever see a lump in his pants? No, of course not, because HE'S ACTUALLY FEMALE! He's the product of one of the most fiendishly successfull sex-change operations in recent history!

And now, the founders of Slashdot, desperate to do ANYTHING to get VA Software's stock price up, are pandering to the Mac users like Bill Clinton pandering to NARAL. And like BJ's ladies, the loyal Linux and *BSD Slashdot denizens are being fucked in the ass.
