New Palm Pictures?

New Palm writes "It looks like pictures of a new Palm os5 device codenamed 'Oslo' have hit the web. www.pocketpcthought.com had them up, but after a phonecall from Palm's Director of Global Information Security, pulled the pictures. A number of people are mirroring them. Looks semi-legit - but who knows, and who knows how long the images will stay up?

I am someone who rejoices in the fact that I'm more intelligent than 99% of my peers. It was great to learn that I could attend nearly any college I wanted and be paid tens of thousands of dollars every year just for doing so. It's also nice to know that I can get paid for going to graduate school as well.

Thanks to my excellent writing skills, I also am able to share my knowledge and opinions with others from all over the Earth thanks to the global scale of the Internet.

However, those of you who lead similar lives and are similarly intellectually-gifted may be missing something. That feeling that you have while spending another hour in front of the glare of your monitor on a Friday must exist for some reason, but why, you ask.

Yes, despite your cunning wit and millions upon millions of memorized factoids, you're a wretched disaster when it comes to socializing.

You, sir, lack style and beauty, and that's something you can't get from a book.

Look at the truly successful people in this world. Glance over at the man with the new cellphone, the new car, the beautiful hair, the nice tan -- he's smart and talented just like you, but for some reason his net worth exceeds the sum of every paycheck you'll ever receive during your lifetime. What does he have that you don't have, you ask. It's called style and beauty, and sexy words flow off his tongue on a daily basis, getting him exactly what he wants.
You'll never be this good, but it hurts to admit it. Weekends spent in chat rooms run together like a landslide, and days blur into weeks which blur into months which eventually blur into years. Years of suffering and spending your life on the bottom of the barrel of the social scene. Years of anguish and insecurity all because you never gave two shits about anything except for the latest feat of Intel's as they fit another 100,000 transistors on their latest-generation microprocessor.

So the next time you lash out at someone more successful at you who has it all, please second-guess your tirade and re-think your priorities. Yes, he really does have it all, and chances are he could even outplay you in chess.

Since you can't read the FAQ because you're banned, here's the relevant portion [slashdot.org]: Why is my IP banned?

Perhaps you are running some sort of program that loaded thousands of Slashdot Pages. We have limited resources here and are fairly protective of them. We need to make sure that everyone shares. If your IP loads thousands of pages in a day, you will likely be banned. Please note that many proxy servers load large quantities of pages, but we can usually distinguish between proxy servers being used by humans, and IPs running software that is hammering our servers.
