Triangle Boy Lives

mlinksva writes: "Safeweb cancelled their free service late last year, but their P2P anonymizing proxy, Triangle Boy, has been spotted in the wild (south of Fort Worth, Texas). 'Because of its stealth nature, the P2P software does not show up in reports from many filtering products and the administrator doesn't even know the problem exists and has no way to check it.'(via UniteTheCows)."

Just a discovery of TB being used in Crowley Independent School District and you called it "spotted in the wild"? How wild could it be? Or you mean this school hosting wild animals?

  4. The Horrifying Stench Of Open Source Programmers by Anonymous Coward · · Score: -1, Troll

    Slashdot admits the truth here.

As we already know open source programmers stink, both at their jobs, and in general. Take RMS for instance. He can't get a job as a real programmer so he starts the FSF. He also hasn't taken a bath or shower in over 20 years making him stink in general. Living in a dark cave doesn't help either. I don't want to know what is crawling around in his hair.

I'm sure there are people at your office who are just like RMS if they can hold their jobs. You know they are close because you can smell them. You are spending hours of overtime fixing their code.

For anyone reading this post none of this is a suprise. However, slashdot is a bastion of open source programmers. That is why the code is so bad, and its the only website that you can smell over the internet because it reaks!!!!

What was suprising to me (and to you I'm sure) was that slashdot admitted in the above linked article that open source programmers stink.

I commend slashdot for admitting the brutal yet honest truth.

I wouldn't even notice this if it were some bit of software to get around WWW filtering, since I believe that access to the WWW should be unfiltered (except for blatantly disgusting sites like Rotten and Goatse) since there are so many benefits it provides, such as (as noted earlier) Google caching, Internet archives, Google Usenet archives, conversion programs, and the like. The problem with P2P access is that almost all of the time it is used to download large(r) files, which are protected under copyright. That's why I think P2P actually has more potential than the WWW for trouble:

    WWW
    1. Only porn (most warez and such sites are just mazes of banner links)
    2. Porn can only be downloaded so quickly - you try downloading 6Mb of it all in one go.

    P2P
    1. Porn, warez, MP3s, and much else
    2. Concurrent downloads allow you to gobble up as much bandwidth as you like!
